An Immuno-Epidemiological Model of Paratuberculosis
نویسنده
چکیده
The primary objective of this article is to introduce an immuno-epidemiological model of paratuberculosis (Johne’s disease). To develop the immuno-epidemiological model, we first develop an immunological model and an epidemiological model. Then, we link the two models through time-since-infection structure and parameters of the epidemiological model. We use the nested approach to compose the immuno-epidemiological model. Our immunological model captures the switch between the T-cell immune response and the antibody response in Johne’s disease. The epidemiological model is a time-sinceinfection model and captures the variability of transmission rate and the vertical transmission of the disease. We compute the immune-response-dependent epidemiological reproduction number. Our immuno-epidemiological model can be used for investigation of the impact of the immune response on the epidemiology of Johne’s disease.

An immuno-epidemiological model for Johne’s disease in cattle
To better understand the mechanisms involved in the dynamics of Johne's disease in dairy cattle, this paper illustrates a novel way to link a within-host model for Mycobacterium avium ssp. paratuberculosis with an epidemiological model. The underlying variable in the within-host model is the time since infection. Two compartments, infected macrophages and T cells, of the within-host model feed ...

In France, the considerable economic losses due to paratuberculosis introduction in cattle herds may justify the development of a herd-level certification procedure. For a cost/benefit analysis purpose, a simple deterministic and stochastic simulation model for intra-herd paratuberculosis transmission has been developed to evaluate the economic consequences of the purchase of a single infected ...

The PTB-Simherd is a dynamic, stochastic, and mechanistic Monte-Carlo model simulating adairy herd including young stock. Paratuberculosis and relevant control strategies against thisdisease was built into an existing simulation model. The model is able to simulate bothepidemiological, technical and economic consequences of paratuberculosis and controlstrategies against it in th...

Multitarget genotyping of the etiologic agent Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis is necessary for epidemiological tracing of paratuberculosis (Johne's disease). The study was undertaken to assess the informative value of different typing techniques and individual genome markers by investigation of M. avium subsp. paratuberculosis transmission between wild-living red deer and farmed cat...
متن کاملCoupling Within-Host and Between-Host Infectious Diseases Models
Biological processes occur at distinct but interlinked scales of organization. Yet, mathematical models are often focused on a single scale. Recently, there has been a significant interest in creating and using models that link the withinhost dynamics and population level dynamics of infectious diseases. These types of multi-scale models, called immuno-epidemiological models, fall in four categ...
